I keep starting again on Monday.
We stop one bad meal or missed session turning into a bad week.

I went from 110kg to 77kg while dealing with work, stress and real life. Now I help busy adults lose body fat, build strength and get back in control with a plan they can actually stick to.

Phil was already a regular gym goer when we started. What he needed was more structure, better nutrition and someone to keep pushing him forward. Eighteen weeks in, he is 10kg down and still progressing.
“Hi, my name is Phil and I have been working with Scott at Built By Barlow for 18 weeks. I have enjoyed every step. Working with Scott has made such a positive difference to me. From the beginning, he has been supportive, encouraging and really understanding of my goals. He has helped me improve both my diet and my training, making sure everything is realistic and achievable.”
“I started at 105kg and I am now at 95kg. One of the biggest changes so far is that I now need to buy new clothes because of the weight I have lost, but I am definitely not complaining. I was already a regular gym-goer, but I never really had anyone pushing me to do better or showing me the correct way to perform exercises, so that has been really helpful too.”
“Scott's knowledge around nutrition has helped me make better choices without feeling like I am on a strict diet, and his advice on supplements has been eye-opening as well. I am really pleased with the progress I have made so far and I am grateful for his continued encouragement and support. I would highly recommend Built By Barlow to anyone looking for a coach who genuinely cares about helping you achieve your goals.”

Most people already know the basics. The difficult part is staying consistent when work is busy, family life happens, motivation drops and old habits are easier. That is exactly what the coaching is designed around.
We stop one bad meal or missed session turning into a bad week.
We make food predictable enough that you are not making every decision when you are tired or hungry.
Your training becomes progressive, measured and built around the result rather than just getting sweaty.
You are not handed a plan and left alone. We review what is happening and adjust it with you.
At 110kg I was struggling to tie my shoelaces comfortably and getting out of breath walking upstairs. The holiday photo from May 2024 was the point where I decided I had let things go too far.
I started training again, followed planned food and hired a coach so I was accountable to somebody. Some weeks I managed five sessions; on tougher weeks I made sure I still got at least three done.

Training, food, accountability and adjustments. Nothing complicated for the sake of it. Just the things that keep progress moving.
A programme built around your experience, equipment and the number of sessions you can realistically complete.
Calories, macros and meal structure that remove guesswork and fit the way you actually live.
We look at what happened, what worked, where you struggled and what needs changing next.
Holidays, meals out, deadlines and difficult weeks are expected. The plan adapts rather than collapses.
There was a period where takeaway was the easy answer most nights, alcohol was part of the routine and I was constantly choosing convenience over what I knew I needed. The more I did it, the harder it became to break the pattern.
I do not coach by pretending you will never want a takeaway, a meal out or a drink again. We build enough structure to reduce the constant decision making, understand what triggers you and stop one choice turning into days of going off track.

I qualified as a personal trainer in July 2017 because I wanted to use fitness to help disadvantaged young people in the part of Manchester where I was living. That plan never came together, but the reason behind it never really left me: I genuinely enjoy helping people feel better about themselves.
I knew the theory. What changed things was finally having structure and accountability around it.
Years later, stress, fast food, alcohol and doing no training had taken me in the opposite direction. By May 2024 I was 110kg, unfit and embarrassed by how far I had let my health slide.
Going through that change myself is why I coach the way I do now. I know that knowledge is not always the missing piece. Sometimes you need structure, accountability and somebody who will keep you moving when your own motivation is not enough.
Holidays, family plans, meals out and busy weeks are not mistakes — they are part of life. The aim is to build enough structure around them that a weekend away does not become a month of starting over.
No. The programme is built around where you are now, not where you think you should already be.
No. The aim is to build enough consistency that normal life can sit inside the plan. There may be periods where tighter structure helps, but coaching should not depend on you avoiding your life indefinitely.
That is common. We can work on meal structure, food noise, convenience habits, weekends and the all or nothing thinking that often turns one poor choice into several days off plan.
First I ask for your name, main goal and WhatsApp number so I can get back to you. Then there are a few more personal questions about what you are struggling with, why it matters and what has been holding you back. I read those answers personally and, if I think I can help, we continue the conversation on WhatsApp. No pressure and no hard sell.
Start with three quick details, then tell me what is really going on and why this matters to you. I will read it personally and let you know whether I think I can help. No pressure.
